It's not too often that we actually get to see a bull stand on his nose... but such was the case this Saturday, July 11th when rodeo fans actually witnessed "Sniffer Bulls" in action - a special breed of bulls from the Earl Green Rodeo Company of Eastern Canada. Sniffer Bulls are considered the easiest of the rodeo bulls to ride, since their hind legs never touch the ground. The bull rider is actually treated to a gentle rocking and full body massage, while enjoying the wafting scent of lavender (which is tied behind the bulls ears and tail). "Quite enjoyable," stated Billy Bob, who took 89 points on this bull, Pugs. "I can't wait to draw another Sniffer Bull... my back has been bothering me for some time now, and I can't seem to get rid of this tension headache I've had for the past week."

  1. There are a few Mexican rodeos that use Sniffer Bulls. Not only do you get the perks described, but you get a margarita (with an umbrella and twist of lime) as well. The first person to spill their drink, looses. While on the back of the bull, the rider is expected to finish their drink in only 5 sips, and within 5 minutes... they are allowed only 1 cigarette break, but it must be within this 5 minute ride, and taken while on the bull. Most riders are able to finish within 3 minutes, but a few have literally fallen asleep, and some have spilled their drinks (automatic disqualification)... so you can see the challanges.
